SHABBY CHIC NIGHTSTANDS before and after with legs

I found a quirky little pair of dark wood nightstands at the second hand store and brought them
home for a makeover. They had handles that went up and down in the very middle of each drawer,
it looked very odd. The white spots on the before photo are the holes from the original handles in
the process of being filled with wood filler.

I painted both in a creamy white mix of ASCP. I added little Queen Anne legs to the fronts and
the back legs are made from simple 2 x 2 lumber. All the legs I use are vintage reclaimed parts.

For more information on installing legs check here:

The nightstands were nicely edge distressed with a 220 grit sand paper and clear waxed.

MISFIT HANDLES shabby chic chest of drawers

One of the many repurposing projects I have
undertaken is finding new ways to use vintage
hardware. Whether I find one lonely handle or
12 ugly ones I collect them until some great
sets can be created. I started using the word
"MISIFT" to describe the unique collection
of hardware when I was listing them in my
Etsy shop.

This 1930s chest of drawers shows off how MISFIT handle sets can be used.
I used matching pairs for these drawers but you can also use single handles down the middle.
Note there is also a tiny set of knobs on the second drawer.

I have also applied wood appliques on the drawer and the base apron
to change the overall look of the piece.

This dresser is painted in a distressed Annie Sloan White with a waxed finish.

ALSO ...
I have 1000s of pieces of reclaimed hardware, lots of MISFIT sets, and wood
appliques to choose from at firstfinds so stop in and see what you can find.

SHABBY CHIC VANITY before after

Today I have some fun before and after pics of a project I built. No I didnt build these lovely antique
pieces but I built the set of them. Each piece, the desk, mirror, and stool are all different finds
from different times and places that I brought together and finished in a soft turquoise blue ASCP.

SHABBY CHIC SMALLS

It was time to stop reading my lovely books and magazines I got for my birthday last month and
start spring cleaning. Maybe even bring some of those magazine ideas into the décor.
Ive been busy freshening thinks up around the house, changing this for that and so on.
While tons of organizing, de-cluttering, and redecorating have been going on, a pile of stuff
grew into a mountain of unfinished projects. It was all the second hand smalls I have purchased over
the years with the intention of painting. Well the time had come to get these wonderful pieces
painted, distressed, and waxed. Enjoy ...
